A veritable melee of musical styles are all evident within the 3 Daft Monkeys' music - a unique brand of rousing vocals, frenetic fiddling, 12-string guitar, dancing bass and foot drum produce a sound far too diverse to be pigeonholed into one genre. They create a stunning blend of upbeat, danceable music which, despite all its world influences, remains undeniably British. Whatever your taste in music, 3 Daft Monkeys offer something special and their unique blend of high octane, funked-up folk is guaranteed to get you dancing!

Nik Turner was sax player, vocalist and co-songwriter in the first ever Hawkwind line-up who then bounced in and out of the band over the next thirty years! SPACE RITUAL is a project specially put together to capture the original anarchic spirit of Hawkwind and the line-up features musicians who played in the many incarnations of the band, including: Thomas Crimble, Terry Ollis, Del Dettmar, Ron Tree and Mick Slattery. They are joined by Terry's son Sam Ollis and Chris Purdon who holds the rights to Bob Calvert's poems! With their psychedelic lightshow and frantic dancers, Space Ritual have built a growing reputation as inheritors of Hawkwind's true legacy of space-jams and cosmic improvisation.

Live support comes from The Invisible Opera Company of Tibet with Sembalance live in the bar and astral FSOE deejays on hand to help you through the airlock…

ZAPPATIKA + Zappa DJs
Exeter Phoenix, 8pm, £13.50adv + BF, Tel – 01392 667080

Yes, we've unearthed yet another take on the universe of Frank Zappa for Vibraphonic! ZAPPATIKA will play two exhausting sets which combine new takes on classic Zappa material including 'The Torture never Stops', 'Dirty Love', 'City of Tiny Lites', 'Find Her Finer', 'Black Napkins', 'Titties & Beer', 'Uncle Remus', 'Watermelon in Easter Hay' and 'Joe's Garage' with their own suitably surreal compositions. Led by maverick celtic guitarist McInnes with Dutch madman Battatutti on drums, the unstoppable Zomby Woof on guitar & vocals, the barking Bongo Fury on percussion and noises, the mysterious Dr Lau on keyboards and the one-and-only Prince of Sodom on bass, Zappatika went down a storm at the last annual Zappanale Festival in Paris and have been thrilling Zappaheads across Europe all year.

"Just the way we like it, I'd love to see these guys live" – from a review of Zappatika's latest album by the United Mutations international Zappa fanzine

Zappa projections and Zappa and Beefheart DJs will ensure conceptual continuity in all areas.
