Exeter Phoenix, 8pm, standing
£15 adv (+BF)/£17door.
Tickets from Exeter Phoenix Box Office, Solo, www.wegottickets.com, www.exeterboxoffice.com, www.seetickets.com

Last year Vibraphonic Festival payed tribute to the genius of Frank Zappa with the Zappatistas, this year we have a band featuring three members of the Mothers of Invention!
Don Preston joined The Mothers after their very first album. A true original by any standards. known to keyboard aficionado's for his pioneering synth and piano work - legendary composer John Carter dubbed him "the father of modern synthesis" and he's also a vegetarian who won't eat anything green! Napolean Murphy Brock sang, played sax and acted as front-man on Zappa albums including 'Apostrophe', 'Roxy and Elsewhere', 'One Size Fits All', 'Sheik Yerbouti', 'Zoot Alures' and more – and is also a Magic Band regular. Roy Estrada played bass for both Frank Zappa and Captain Beefheart's Magic Band – simply an extraordinary musician. They are joined by Christopher Garcia who's "drum solo rendition of 'Uncle Meat' caused jaws to drop." (Signal to Noise magazine) and Miroslav Tadic, "One of the world's most radical and individual guitarists" (Guitar Playing magazine) and an in-demand session musician who's worked with Jack Bruce, Joachim Kuhn, David Tom and Terry Riley (to name a few), and who teaches at CalArts, the prestigious Los Angeles music school.
They will be performing the music of Frank Zappa and The Mothers Of Invention… this band rocks!
DJs Ambiessence and Shiny Beast will spin Zappa and Beefhearts in all areas, and we'll wheel out our Zappa projections to make this another Zappafest to remember!
