"There's some good stuff on there!" - Toby Marks (Banco de Gaia)
The Exeter Express & Echo had this to say:
"Dream away with the underground heroes.
Techno… no, no, no. This is much more.
If you don't know zip about the world of electronic music, you could do worse than dip your spoon into this mugful of tunes compiled by the St David's Ambience Society.
Fourteen local wizards of the keyboard feature on this trance-tastic effort - and all for just £5.
This is music to lose yourself to; to sit back and dream to; to paint pictures in your head to and to make up your own words to.
These tunes don't so much rattle along as take a slow walk on the mild side.
Some are simple-but-effective trips around the keyboard, while others, such as Philip Robinson's 'I Have You to Remember', are compilations of recordings of daily life, treated and warped to hell - or is that daily life already?
A number of tracks, 'The Weight Rising' and 'Sunset over DBs', for instance, are beautifully summed-up by their titles.
All-in-all this is a highly commendable effort. So, if you want to discover ambient, take a listen to these local heroes of the underground." |
